Tips for Primo Smoked Turkey
If you enjoy the rich, savory taste of smoked meats, then you’ll love the taste of a fresh turkey cooked to perfection with a Primo Smoker (available at Phillips Energy’s showroom in Gloucester). One of the best parts about smoking turkey is that the meat’s mild flavor leaves a lot of room for experimentation. To impress your guests this Thanksgiving, switch up the smoky flavor using one or more of these elements.
Wood Chips: Use standard hickory or mesquite to impart a solid smokiness; use mild fruitwood chips to add a subtle one. Also, you can try soaking the wood chips in water, fruit juice or wine.
Herbs: Lay bunches of hearty, fresh herbs like rosemary, thyme, oregano, sage and bay leaves on top of the wood chips.
Aromatics: Scatter a handful of flavorful ingredients like citrus peel strips, cinnamon sticks or tea leaves on top of the wood chips to add another dimension.
